Australian actor Jacob Elordi first captured mainstream attention as Noah Flynn in the Netflix hit teen rom-com, The Kissing Booth. Since then, his career has taken off, and he has been cast in some of the most anticipated upcoming films and television shows. But despite his success, Elordi has yet to share his strong Australian accent with the world.
Elordi was born in Brisbane, Australia and has lived there for most of his life. He is proud of his roots, and credits the Australian movie industry for giving him his start. Elordi’s very first on-screen role was in the 2017 Australian drama, 2:22. But after this, Elordi moved to the United States to pursue more opportunities in Hollywood.
Given his Australian roots, it seems only natural for Elordi to bring his native accent to the screen. But, he has never had the chance to do so. His roles in The Kissing Booth, Euphoria, and The Kissing Booth 2, have all required him to speak in an American accent. Even his upcoming roles in films such as Netflix’s The Boys in the Band and HBO’s The Great Green Wall have him speaking in an American accent.
Elordi is undoubtedly an incredibly talented actor, and his ability to master the American accent is further proof of that. But it would be a real treat to hear his Aussie accent come through in some of his roles, and certainly something his fans would love to hear.
Until then, it is likely that Elordi will continue to portray American characters on the big and small screen. But one can only hope that one day Elordi will get the chance to show off his native accent and the true Aussie charm and wit that comes with it.
