Finn Russell’s rise from pre-match burger and chips to Six Nations’ top fly-half has been meteoric. The 23-year-old has played for the British and Irish Lions and is now in his third season with the Scarlets, and has started all of their matches this season. He has also been named in the Wales squad for the Six Nations, and is set to start against Scotland on Saturday.

Russell started his career at the pre-match burger and chips restaurant in his home town of Bridgwater. He would go there with his friends to eat before matches and then go to the nearby pub afterwards. He would then go to the rugby ground and eat his burger and chips before the match. He would then go to the locker room and change into his rugby gear.

Russell started playing rugby for Bridgwater Rugby Club in 2009. He played for them until he was called up to the British and Irish Lions in 2013. He played in all three of the Lions’ Tests that year, and helped them to win the tour of Australia. He then played for the Scarlets for the next two seasons. He started playing for the Welsh team in the 2017-2018 season, and has started all of their matches this season.
